Snacks for Vets

I brought snacks for the volunteer office at the VA, so they could pass them out to veterans who are hungry. I try to keep the office stocked, so no one steals from the PX.

The security guard bowed to me when  I walked in with the flats of soup. Several people recognize me as the soup lady who brings in the snacks.   Been over 5 years I've been doing this.

Snacks for vets

Brought soup to the Vets today.

I bring cup-o-soup flats to the volunteer office at the Veterans Hospital so they can give them out to the veterans who need something while they wait for doctors appointments. I started doing this 5-6 years ago when I was told that vets often ended up in jail for stealing food from the PX. So I became the soup lady and bring in a hundred or so a month (costs me about $25), and I even a tax write-off.

Its absolutely nothing like writing a blank check for your life for your country. But today I got cheered on, and some of the guys who cheered me on were missing limbs.

I'm glad I"m appreciated. Just saying it seemed the wrong person was being thanked.

Snacks for vets

Brought 'snacks', which are noodle soups that just need water, to the VA volunteer department today. I try to keep them supplied with something to give hungry vets.

Snacks to the Vets

I dropped off 'snacks' to the VA (Veterans Administration) Hospital volunteer office today. I brought a flat of 'cup of noodles' - just add hot water, and a few packages of cookies individually wrapped. I'm trying to keep the volunteer office stocked with food, so hungry vet patients don't end up stealing anything and getting put in jail. Apparently this was an issue. So I spend a few dollars a week buying snacks and dropping them off on Wednesday's when I'm there for work. I've gotten into a routine with it, its real easy for me and its worth the effort for our vets.

Helping Veterans

I brought magazines and snacks to the volunteer office of the West LA VA (Veterans Administration Hospital). I've been bringing them magazines for years, but a month or so ago I was asked to bring snacks like cup of soup or ramen noodles. Things they can give the vets (many who are homeless) who are hungry. If they don't have food, they sometimes steal it from the cafeteria or canteen (store). And then they end up in jail. So, I started buying a few flats of snacks when I shop at the 99 cent only store, and bring them to the volunteers. I have an appointment at the West VA, so I'm there often.
