I made two kiva loans to Julia's today. One to Julia in Ecquador for her cosmetics business. The other Julia was from Boliva and wants a loan for her home store/restaurant.
Alley Cat Allies
I made a donation to Alley Cat Allies today. They do great work with helping cats. Changing the way we look at feral populations. Check them out for more details. And merrow.

Medecins sans frontieres/Doctors without Borders

I made a donation today to Medecins sans frontieres (Doctors without Borders). They do such a fantastic job. I always donate to them when I make donations for disasters, because they usually already have people in the area and can start helping quick.

Tree People

People need trees. Trees sometimes need people.
I made a donation to Treepeople today, a local group that plants trees in the forest (and around town). I've helped them plant too.
Monday, May 23, 2011

I made a donation today to the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA. They do a great job. I am also going to drop by some of my fleece blankets for the 100+ cats they are taking care of from a hoader. They can't find them homes just yet (legal reasons I think).

I've been donating to a few friends AIDS walks. I like to support people.
Managed to hit a friends link before she knew about, another friend posted it to her on facebook. So she'll be surprised :}
Here's her link in case you want to donate too. Random acts of kindness...

Kiva loan and trees

Renewed my membership in the local arboretum. Its good to support trees. I like tree people too.
Also made a Kiva loan to Ana Julia Aragón de Castillo.
Ana Julia Aragón de Castillo, 57 years old, lives with her life partner and their children in the department of Santa Ana. She has a store in her home that is much-frequented by the people in her neighborhood because they always find what they need for any occasion. Every day her clientele increases and she doesn't want to disappoint them. She decided to ask INTEGRAL for a loan that will give her the opportunity to buy more products for her store like drinks, snacks, instant soups and basic grains, among other things. Ana is a woman who meets her goals, and she always tells herself "what I propose to myself, with the help of God, I accomplish". She has placed total confidence in the fact that through this loan she will achieve another goal, that of giving her family the full life that they deserve.

Loan to Julia
Made a loan to Julia.

Julia is 45 years old and lives in her own house with her husband Enrique, who is 54 years old and a farmer, and her last daughter of the five children they have. The rest are older and live independently.
Since she was young, she has worked in agriculture and she currently grows potatoes, peas, and gladiolus flowers with her husband. She says that farm work is tedious, because it is a constant watch on each plant so that a plague of insects doesn't harm their crops. Julia knows that if given proper care and fertilizer, you can expect a good harvest. Additionally, the experience she has with planting has allowed to her to learn the necessary techniques for harvesting the entire crop without problems. She likes her work very much because she gets to work with her husband and together they work to plant and later sell everything to wholesale merchants in the city. The sales give them a regular income that allow them to live comfortably with their daughter.
Since she is a very hard-working woman, she plans to increase her gladiolus flower and pea production since the prices of those items are very good at the market. This is her third loan with MFP and she is very thankful to all the people who made the loan possible, since it will allow her to continue working. She also knows the members of her community bank very well and knows that they are responsible. Julia plans to invest this loan in the purchase of gladiolus and pea seeds to begin to increase her production.
